Dear Renaissance Academy families,

As we have navigated the past weeks, my thoughts have been with all of you – Renaissance Academy students, families, and staff. This pandemic has caused our lives to be toppled in countless ways. Each of us are forging
new ways of being every day as information and situations change and shift. Throughout it all, I find myself reflecting on all my roles – parent, educator, neighbor, citizen, and with each reflection I come back to my
intrinsic need for connection and creativity. It is my hope that this message brings you not only updated information, but also a sense of connection to our Renaissance family.

City Schools is in the process of adapting our educational delivery system for this coming week with the Continuity of Learning plan. Renaissance Academy staff members have embraced online teaching and learning
with the same energy, focus, intention, passion, and care and concern for student learning and well-being that is foundational to our tradition of excellence in each classroom. This Continuity of Learning plan provides
students with continuous learning throughout this closure. All students will be provided with online or printbased learning pathways depending upon their access to technology.

Attached to this message you will find:

  • Office hours for all faculty members.
  • Information for accessing Google Classroom:
    • Student Class Schedule
    • Accessing Google Classroom
    • Navigating Google Classroom from game consoles

Please have your student to log on to Google Classroom to ensure they are ready for next week. Reach out to your student’s teachers, school counselor, Assistant Principal, or me should you need assistance. Email addresses and telephone numbers for all Renaissance Academy staff have been included in this letter.

City Schools continues to update the webpage dedicated to Coronavirus updates. Please check it frequently for additional information: https://www.baltimorecityschools.org/. Included on this site is Chief Executive Officer Dr. Santelises’ message from March 26, 2020 that includes a summary of the continuity of learning plan.

The Renaissance Academy community will prosper. Renaissance Academy is an amazing, courageous, creative and resilient community. It’s a community where students take creative risks every day. It’s a place
where students and staff come together to support each other in tough times and to celebrate with each other in good times.

Our cherished Renaissance Academy community members will continue to inspire the world with their work and their voice. We look forward to seeing in our online classrooms on April 6, 2020. I cannot wait until we
can all come together, face to face, once again to enjoy the range of activities and experiences available at Renaissance Academy HS. Until then, let’s have great days connecting online, knowing that our Renaissance Academy spirit is not confined to the brick and mortar campus but extends to all, no matter our physical location.

Lastly, I asked that you reach out to me directly if you have questions. For this is unchartered waters and I do not have a blueprint for what we are experiencing, so your thoughts, ideas and suggestions are welcomed.

Sincerely

Tammatha Woodhouse,
Principal
